A nightmare is being sent to bed without dinner as a penalty for not setting the table correctly! That’s a memory shared by writer, Carma of Carma’s Cookery in her recent blog post.
We all have our crazy memories around the dinner table. Rosemarie shares in the book’s introduction how her family used a communal towel as a napkin which was passed around the table for everyone to share. And at Linda’s childhood home, they didn’t use table napkins at all. For both of us that was a long time ago. Rest assured, in both of our homes we have MORE than made up for our early beginnings without adequate table napkins. And our linen drawers are over-flowing with napkins – plain ones, patterned ones, Easter bunny napkins, stars & stripes for the 4th of July, autumn patterns and colors, and then there are the many Christmas napkins we have. Napkins (or serviette’s in some circles) are a lovely, functional necessity for every table. As an investment, high-quality cloth table napkins will last for years. Learn a few basic napkin folds and you’ll love them too.
